5' over summer pool, there should still be a place to camp and I believe that part of the ramp should still be up, too. It's been a long time since I launched there.

I plan on doing some back country camping at Pisgah Point this coming weekend but am a little concerned about the rising water. If it gets up 5ft over summer pool will the boat ramp still be usable and will there still be a place to camp? I've never been there when the water is up that much. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Most of the area ramps are not the problem, it is the courtesy dock (if they have one). Most of them don't have enough play to stay completely above water when it gets much over summer pool and many don't have a good place to beach a boat.
I agree with Quakr. Most ramps will be good in high water(in low water that is a different story). According to TVA the lake is most likely gonna be at or near summer pool by this weekend. So all ramps, docks, and campgrounds should be fine. I am guessing it will scatter the fish though.
Thanks for all the help everybody. I really appreciate it. I don't have to worry about a courtesy dock in my boat. It's a 1973 model and it's seen it's fair share of being beached in the rocks, gravel and sand. Luckily the fiberglass under the paint is the same color as the paint!
Hey Billy I went down to Barkley dam and caught some skips this evening for the freezer they had all the gates open with fast rising water.I drove by kuttawa on the way home and the water is up in the trees, the ramp at kuttawa was ok but the courtesy dock walkway was under water. The water is way above summer pool right now with the water up in the trees maybe by this weekend it will start stabilizing. The lady at the bait shop at poplar springs said the red ear are biting and there are still quite a few good size crappie being taken ,take care and hope you all do some good. Billy
Hey Billy, I didn't know you were on this board to! Thanks for the report, we're going to give it our best try.
I believe you can get far enough up the hill to camp ok but launching at Pisgah Point is gonna be a problem depending on your boat. The land kinda flatens out in the parking area. You're probably gonna have to back way out in the water. If you can't put in there you might be able to go around to the old Birmingham side & get in. If the road ain't under water. I don't think it will be.

I just checked the TVA website. Ky is going to 275000 cfs discharge & they are predicting to be back down to below 360 by the 8th. Personally I will be suprised if they are, but that's what they are predicting. You might get lucky. I just got on the boat & man there is some water in this Tn river system. If we get anymore rain at all that prediction ain't gonna be worth a flip.
Now for the bad news. The white crappie are pushing to the flooded brush & trying to spawn. TVA is gonna suck the water off them & it's probably gonna hurt another spawning class. We just can't get a break!
