Most of the females still have eggs, but will be heading to the shallows as soon as the water temps start increasing a few degrees.....should still be several fish still spawing when you come down.
Coming down this weekend, can anyone tell me if it would be a waist of time to bring the Fly rod for some Blue Gill?
Thanks Dennis
Far the most part the gills are still in deep water, the crappie, bass & yellowbass are on the banks. Mainly on rocky banks & brush in 10 to 15 water.
Use that flyrod with a 1/32 oz jig with a curly tail & flip it up on them chunk rock banks for crappie.
I like to use a floating line with a 4 foot 6lb fluorecardon leader.
Thanks for the info. I'll try it for the Crappie, going back in May try it on the Gills then.
