Yeah, I'd love to hear what others have been up to, also, even if it is "nothing to report." I'm hoping to hit Wilgreen in Richmond tomorrow afternoon. Let us know what's happening at Cedar Creek. It seemed like last year was a tough year to fish there, the fishing report from Cedar Creek Outfitters said Crappie fishing was always slow. Hopefully the warm weather in the next few days will get things started.
I shall be heading out to cedar creek saturday...so i will report as well....hopefully it will be something worthwhile....but i need to scratch my spring fever itch anyway...good luck to all yall this year
..... if this year is going to be anything like last year.
But, last year was anything but "slow" ... once the Crappie decided to come to the banks. Fred-in-KY and I probably caught several limits each, in less than a half days fishing, last Spring (late April) ... but, we happened to have hit it right when the fish were in the shallows. Most any place we went, where there was submerged wood in less than 5ft of water ... there they were. We could see them, the water was so clear ... and even watched them come up and take the jig-- not 2ft from the side of his boat :p
Unfortunately, only ONE fish was over 9" ... and it was the only one I kept.
Here's the post about that trip : http://www.crappie.com/crappie/kentu...venture-2.html
But, if anyone goes ... please do catch'em and keep a mess of them !! Better to get them BEFORE they go on the bed, so they don't have a big spawn, again, and just overpopulate even more. The size limit has been removed, and the creel limit is now 30/person/day. This was done to help reduce the overall numbers, so as to allow the remaining fish to grow bigger (if that's possible). I plan on taking a limit or two out of there, myself, this year ... not only to help with the overpopulation problem, but also to atone for having released all of those caught last year

I went to laurel lake a few weeks ago when we had that last warm spell and fished of the bank at flat woods I used articially bait and didn;t even get a sniff. You can usually get to trout to bit around the flat woods area and they didn;t even bit. The water was at full pool and that is a first in many years that I can remeber. I just checked the water level and it is 1016ft which should have it way up in the trees and if they will keep the water level this high there should be some awsome fish when the water warms.
I went to Cedar Creek this morning, it was a pretty day to fish but the wind was blowing almost 20mph, anyone thats ever fished this lake knows its dang near impossible to fish during high winds (almost any wind). Anyway the water temperature was 40.8 degrees F, so I thought that was extremely cold. You can always catch crappie, but it's tougher in this cold water unless you know exactly where they are. When the water temp hits about 50 they will start turning on. No luck today, not even a bite. But not long fellows, not long. Heading to Alabama Monday. Keep the posts going guys, every fishing report helps. I'll do my part and every time I go out I'll let you guys know how it went.

I fish Lake Cumberland and fish about 2 hr. per trip.
Today, high wind, Wolf Creek, water temp 43, color slightly stained, 7 keepers, (we have a 10 size limit), largest 15" . And did not see another fisherman. It was as if I had the total lake to myself.
Yesterday, light wind, 44 degrees, medium stained White Oak, caught 7 keepers, largest 14 1/2".
Day before yesterday, 44 deg., main lake, dark stained, caught 8 keepers, largest 12"
thanks
