    Default Need a little help

I need a little help from you guys down in western ky.
My brother is an insurance adjuster for KY Farm Bureau in northern ky. He is also on a disaster team that travels to locations in and out of state for major storm damage. Currently is in hopkinsville and has been there since the first of february. He just found out yesterday that he will now be in that area through the end of March. Since we usually fish together starting in march, i would like to arrange to go down and spend a weekend with him and fish either KY Lake or Lake Barkley. Never been on those lakes, though i went to school at Murray State back in the late 80's and spent alot of time at LBL (too much time)

What could i expect at either of those lakes in March. We have gone to reelfoot lake the last several years but it looks like that may be out of the question for now. I have read many posts on the two lakes, but wanted to here some first hand opinions from you guys. Basically, i am going to look at the weather starting on wednesday's, and go when it appears that the weather will be the best it can be for march (as predicted) for that weekend. Load the truck and boat and head down on a friday afternoon.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

    thanks

That'll be a good time to be there. Watch the reports as the time gets closer. Still pretty cold for all but the diehard fishermen down there.

Get a map for the lake you plan to fish. GPS maps are fine. The lakes are big but have shallow spots (Barkley more so than Kentucky) so you need to know where you are.

Plan on the last week in March if it works. You should see 50's or warmer then. Keep an eye on the wind. These long skinny lakes that aren't down in a valley can get a bit rough when the wind comes from the right direction.
