    Default Ice on T-ville?

How bad is it? I was hoping to go for a few hours Saturday if there's not a lot of ice around the ramps. I don't how there could be ice free water but was hoping someone could tell me that has been over that way. Thanks.

    Take care,

you might want to call 502-477-8713 (State Park) and ask them ... or call this number for a recorded fishing/lake condition report .. 502 477 8606

COE graph shows that the lake came up several feet during the last week, is still slightly over Summer Pool, and falling (they're pulling it @ ~ 2500cfs)

    Here's the graphs :

    Louisville District Daily Lake Report
    http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/wc/res...plots/tvl.html

Note : I called the fishing/lake conditions number, but the only information I got, that would be of interest, was that the tailwater road was closed ... due to ice :o (no fishing report or lake "conditions", other than water levels and output rate). The tailwater road is on a hillside, and relatively shaded, so it retains ice for awhile longer than the main access roads. I've been on it, before, when it was iced up ... and it's pretty treacherous, since it's such a steep incline. Only went down about 1/10 of the way, thought better of it, and had a tricky time of it ... trying to turn around and head back up to the main road :p I can't imagine the road down to the Marina ramp being any better, but there was no mention of it being closed (in the recording). The Marina doesn't open til March 1st ... so I don't know if they would even try and clear it.
You could also call the Settlers Trace Marathon 502 477 9676 ... since it's right on the corner of the road to the Marina ramp ... if anyone would know what's happening down there ... they would

Saturday looks like a great day to get out. I'm thinking of hitting Lake Wilgreen in Richmond, although I think ice may be a factor there, too. I love boating when there is still a thin sheet of ice on the lakes. The ripples from the wake make the ice make thousands of cracking sounds--sounds like it's raining all around you. Very nice.

That's pretty much what I suspected. Hopefully, this warm spell will take care of alot of the remaining ice.
Now ... if the powers that be would only drop the lake down about 10-15ft so that the late Winter & Spring rains can fill it back up, and not flood it way up into the shoreline trees, right around spawning time (like it usually does) ... then maybe we could get a good spawn to take place. :D

I never have understood why Taylorsville Lake's Summer Pool and Winter Pool are only a difference of TWO FEET OF WATER Given the fact that this lake floods so easily & frequently, and has done so for the last decade ... and being as it's not all that big, volume/acreage wise, I just can't see two feet of water being all that beneficial a difference in pool levels.

Thanks for the replies and info, sorry I'm a little late getting back to ya. Didn't even try, figured the wind would be too much even if no ice. I got on the road down to Settlers Trace once with lots of ice and snow and wasn't sure I'd make it back to the top, don't want to do that again.

    Take care,
    Greenfish
