    Default Lake Linville

Anybody have any info on this lake? Any Crappie in it? Is it iced over? The lake I am talking about is off I-75 close to the Renfro Valley Exit

... ahh yes, been there before. I've heard it has Crappie, but never fished there for them. http://fw.ky.gov/pdf/lakelinville.pdf

I'd be willing to bet that it "was" frozen over. Not sure if it would be now, though. Ramp is located at the far back (Shallow) end of the lake, road in is (was ?) a gravel/dirt road that runs alongside the lake (shoreline to ramp). I say "was ?" because it's been awhile since I've been by that way.
I've never seen more than one or two boats on it, at any one time, whether passing by it (on my way to Tenn/Watts Bar Lake) or even when fishing it (Bass, many years ago).
I doubt it has all that much to offer, otherwise it would be more popular

I guess I would have to drive all the way to Tennessee to find open water... Don't have the time in one day to do all that driving and fish.. Now I know what prison feels like..

Have you considered any of the creeks/rivers that empty into the Ohio River ? They'd be closer to home, and probably ice free.

With this little warming trend, and the rains, most all the ice should be gone ... if not by now, shortly. Check back in a week or so.

Just watched the KY Afield show ... fishing reports were almost non-existant, but those that did give a report, were reporting on Trout stockings and Sauger fishing (below dams). It's still a wee bit early for any action, locally ... but, it's coming

Yep, I have caught fish in those creeks and they are big ones too... I drive over the Ohio everday on my way to work.. Never thought the creeks would be open but I guess all that melted snow would do a number on the iced creek in a hurry... Hmmmm, I may have to check that out tomorrow

We fished Linville several times last year. As Crappie pappy said, the marina is in the back end of the lake and in shallow water. If water levels are low, there might not be water on the ramp.

In our experience there, the lake doesn't produce good fish. We fished for both bass and crappie, and they were few and far between. Also, the main arm of the lake faces the highway, and it can get a little noisy.

One weekend, unbeknownst to us, they were having a bass tournament. They probably had 10-12 boats in it, but we didn't see the weigh-in. I hope none of our 6-inchers would have been in the money.
