I went down on Nov 29 and the water was 45 to 47 degrees. I hear that the water is down to 40 to 42 degrees with ice starting to form in the back of some of the branches. I was fishing for crappie with minnows. I only managed 1 crappie which was a decent 9". I did manage to boat 9 bass with a couple of them being 17" and the smallest being 12". I was using my 6' Shimano Clarus ultra light rod. The bite was very, very light; watching the line was a must. I caught my fish in 17-20 feet of water fishing about 10-12 feet deep. I was fishing very close to timber. I fished from about noon to 4:30 and the air temp was around 40 to 42 and it was a windy day which made to a cold time on the water. I know that this report is about 2 weeks old but I hope it helps some. I am planning on heading down this Sat and/or Sun if the long range forecast holds true(I got my fingers crossed). I will again fish with minnows and think I will try to locate some of the stumps and brush piles in the main part of the lake and fish a foot or to above them. If that doesn't work I will try some structure in some shallower water. Just figure that I will start deep and move shallower. I am not real experienced with wintertime fishing, so I figure there is no better way to learn than to hit the water and give it a try. Anybody else got any wintertime tips? I have had no luck with jigs at CC other than during the springtime. Good Luck, keep warm and stay safe.
