I've never fished Crappie USA, or any of the circuit tournies. None of them have a circuit that fishes the lakes I fish :p
Crappie fishing on Green River Lake, now that's another thing
I do have some experience/knowledge of it, and more than willing to share what I know.
Green River Lake is a good Crappie lake. But. like so many of the other lakes in KY, it's cyclic in it's production level of Slabs. Seems to be a cycle of 2-3 years of plenty of sub-legal to just legal sized fish, then a banner year of really nice sized fish ... and in decent numbers. I haven't fished down there in several years, but when I did ... it was mostly in the second half of April. I usually fished between the dam and the upper portion of Robinson Creek. But, most of my fishing was around the island, between the state camp ground and the Emerald Isle Marina. Though I did use tube jigs, on occasion, most of my fishing was done with Roadrunners ... casting to the banks and reeling back. Even the smallest piece of wood was worthy of casting to, and some of the rocky banks of the creeks off of Robinson Creek would produce, as well. Drifting the deeper waters with minnows would also produce, if the fish had not yet come to the shallows.
In the Fall, I've fished up on the river end of the lake ... between Holmes Bend Marina & the bridge. Drifting minnows over the flats, and along the channel edges did produce some decent fish.
