According to KDFWR website the angler must abide by the regulations of the state in which he/she is fishing. There was no additional info. If a person has both licenses and catches a limit in KY, leaves them in KY, then goes to TN and catches a limit I believe they are within the law.
I think Pappy misunderstood what I was trying to say. The way things are I believe I could go out in the morning and legally catch 20 fish in Ky. then go in and come back out on my Tn. licence and fish Tn. waters and catch 30 more. I'm fish'n 2 different states on 2 different licences. If the game Wardened checked my cooler back at camp I would have 50 fish. In Ky. I would be 10 over the possion limit but in Tn. I would be 10 under.
That make since?
If you have 50 fish, for one person, after one days fishing (in your possession, in your campsite/lodging ... you're 20 over the KY possession limit (if you're camped in KY) -or- 30 over the TN possession limit (if you're camped in TN).
You may be fishing two different states legally ... but, your possession limit is still one days creel limit on day one.
NOW ... you might be "legal", if you caught a limit in KY ... took them HOME ... then went back, to the TN side, and caught a TN limit, and brought them HOME (in the same day). But, bringing them back to "camp", I still think is a possession limit violation, since you'd have more than one days creel limit in your possession, after just one days fishing.
... cp
Pap, so you're saying if i come down for a 3 day weekend, from PA, to fish both states, with both permits, i couldn't take them both, back to the motel i'm renting? Because i'll be staying in Aurora, KY. I dont catch limits anyway but it would be good to know what i can do, if i do catch them.
Although I still haven't talked to Mike Fields at KDFWR, ( I called again today and got his voicemail) the agent I spoke with on the phone did say that although the daily limit for KY lake is 20 the posession is 60 fish.
Now I'm really confused! But going back to what Pappy said. That agent doesn't know if I caught those fish today or yesterday. I wouldn't want to be dishonest and I wouldn't to lie but I know I can go deer hunting in Ky & kill a buck in the morning and go kill a buck in Tn. the same day even though you are only allowed 1 buck in Ky. Ofcourse I'm not sure I can transport that meat across the state line.
The following is a question in the 2008 Ky Fishing Guide

Q: How is a daily creel limit
different than a possession limit?
A: The daily creel limit is the
number of a particular sport fish
species you may keep in one day’s
fishing. A possession limit is the
maximum number of sport fish a
person may hold in the field after
two or more days of fishing.
The thing different about deer is that they are checked in, at least in KY. So you have proof that it was killed in a particular state. You can transport deer meat across state lines (prevention of the spread of CWD may prevent you from bringing brain and spinal tissue into certain states)
