Well I finally got out this morning. I've been waiting for cooler weather. Ended up catching 18 crappie ( only 4 keepers ), 2 bass and 2 catfish. Water temp. was anywhere from 70 to 78. Hit 2 different creeks and found all crappie close to the mouth only. I guess that means they are just starting in? All were caught with minnows and slip bobbers, around 3 to 4 ft. deep in the brush, in about 8 to 10 ft. of water. Is it unusual for small crappie to come in the creeks before the slabs? All in all a great morning. They were my 1st crappie caught since last spring. I turned them loose as not really worth cleaning 4 fish. I still have meat in the freezer. It won't be long now. :D
Went today too, started off fishing back in Blood River east of wildcat creek, nothing doing there. Moved out near the mouth of Blood River and caught four keepers in about an hour before I had to come home. They were all in brush in 12-13ft of water. Pushin 4 rods/2 jigs per rod all different colors, Chart/green was all that got bit. Can't wait to go back hopefully Tuesday and Wednesday.
