Nicely done, good to hear they are still biting good at Cedar Creek, hopefully I can make it there this week if the weather gets right & try my luck. Nice fish too btw, sounds like you all had a great trip.

Enjoyed it Fred, in spite of the ugly weather.
Fred & I hooked up this morning around 7AM, for our planned trip to Herrington. Little on the windy side, breeze was cool, and intermittent rain/mist ... lake falling. We fished for several hours, trying various spots, and caught a few. Most were right close to the bank & in the brush/trash/logjams. Tally came to one 11" White Crappie female in the livewell, and half a dozen or so throwbacks. Falling water has pulled them back off the banks, and effectively shut down the heavy pullage that Fred and friends had been experiencing, earlier in the week. Plan B was then put into effect :p
Plan B was to take out of Herrington and head to Cedar Creek. Pretty sure we'd get into some pullage, there ... even if it was only hand sized fish :D
Put in at Cedar Creek and fished most of the rest of the day. We started catching fish, right off the bat ... found all of them to be holding close to the bank & in 1-3ft of water, in the fallen tree branches & shallow stumps. Tally for that portion of the day ... somewhere between 75-100 fish... seriously !! Most every spot we stopped at, we'd catch 8 or 10. Sometimes, they were so shallow, we were actually "site fishing" for them :p And I don't know how many times we dropped our jig down in the water, or flipped or cast it out, and watched the fish come up and take it .... LOL !! We even tried to come up with a jig body color that they wouldn't bite
but couldn't ... even with some very garish colors. Towards the end of the day, I did manage to catch a 10" Black Crappie male ... FIRST actual "keeper" sized Crappie that I've ever caught from Cedar Creek .... and naturally it comes after they've removed the size limit .... LOL !!
Here's yours truly, with a Cedar Creek "slab" :o :
And, not to be outdone, Fred with another "beauty" :
The kind of spots we were pulling'em out of :
My tally for the day (dinner) :
All in all, a fun day on the water !! Thanks for the invite, Fred ... we'll hook up again !!

Jesus Said: Come, follow me & I will make you fishers of men.
Sounds like you all had a blast, missed you at Herrington, I did not get there till about 10 a.m. but had a great day, it is days like this that we live for.:D
Good deal CP, glad you were able to make it. I wish Herrington had been more stable but plan B was fun. It was nice to meet you and your welcome to come along with me anytime you want. Boy's C.P. is a PLEASURE to fish with, this man will run your trolling motor for a few hours to give you a break and let you relax awhile...sure is a welcome gesture. Most folks don't want to fool with running the boat. I had some reports today of fish being caught up around Gwen Island. If you are free, head that way. :D I don't know how many we caught at CC but I assure you it was to many!!! Those things were like little pirranahs after our jigs! I had a great time. We didn't get on any real "slabs" but we sure had some laughs and that is what I go after!
Sponsored by my wallet!!
Sounds like fun to me.
CP....
Have you coined a new word for use on the forum?
Pullage....makes sense..but don't think I have ever heard
it used before. Where did you come up with it??
Good trip report !
I was at Cedar Creek on Saturday. My partner and I must have caught 200 of those little things. They are fun to catch, but it kind of gets boring knowing that there isn't much of a chance in catching dinner. I don't ever think the crappie there will ever get eatin' size. It is a nice place to take kids to get them hooked on fishing.
The hope is that, by removing the size limit, the people that catch them will keep them ... thin out the herd, and allow the survivors to have more of a chance to get to a good eatin size![]()
I know that there's been people removing them, by the buckets full, long before the size limit was removed. Maybe with a little help from the "more sportsmanlike" anglers, that didn't take short fish, we'll see some size increase in the next few years.
:D As Fred kept saying, while we were yanking 'em in left and right ... "there's a fish stick or two on that one" :p
I know I'll be bringing home a few messes of them, in upcoming trips. I didn't bother with them, this time, because I thought I wouldn't be able to stay awake long enough to clean them, once I got home. I work Night Shift, and had to stay awake over 24hrs, so I could fish with Fred .. all day Sat, then switch back to my normal sleep pattern on Sunday (had to return to work Sun night).

The wife and I are coming down to Cedar Creek Lake this weekend and I would like to know if anybody has been doing any good?
We will be fishing for Crappie and also try our luck for some Bass.
Any info would be great.
Thanks
Charles,
