Green River Lake Report 4/20

Made it to Green 4/20/08, on the water by 7:30 AM. Put in at Holmes Bend went up river all the way to the snake creek ramp. Stopped and fished about 7 or 8 spots on the way up. Before turning around at the snake creek boat ramp we caught had caught over 100 crappie with only 4 keepers by 12:00. We went the other direction toward Butler creek stopping to fish 7 or 8 different spots along the way, and probably caught 100 more crappie with 7 keepers plus one catfish about 5 lbs. All being said and done came off the water around 5:00 and had 11 keepers and 1 catfish. Talked to people in about 6 or 7 other boats with similar results. Most of our fish were caught in around 17 ft of water anywhere from 4ft to 10ft deep with a few comming shallower. I am no expert, and someone else probably caught alot more, but it seems like the big crappie may already be in somebody's freezer. At any rate the ol man had fun and at any time we would have 7 poles going and at times 6 would be in the boat with a fish on, just not many keepers. This would be a great time to get the little ones out of the house and put them on some of these crappie. Remember, the kids don't care how big the fish are, just that they get to catch some.
