    Thumbs up Herrington Lake Report

Fished Herrington yesterday for 4 hrs. Lake was at 750.3 ft. at 8 a.m. which is 2.3 ft. over flood stage. Put in at Bryants thinking of trolling for white bass, but wife talked me into getting some minners and trying for crappie first. Water color was good when we got there, a good stain to it but was'nt very muddy. Water temp was 58-59 degrees in the time we were there. Wind forced us to seek shelter in protected cove. We broke out our long rods and dipped minners in the flooded timber and brush. We ended up with 4 small bass, 2 crappie (both males), and 1 white bass. I caught both crappie in the darndest mess of floating debris, bushes, and logs you've ever seen. Water was about 7-8 ft. deep where I caught them and I was fishing a minner on a slipfloat rig at about 1-2' deep. It did not look like they had been fanning nests yet, although I guess they might have just started. By the time we pulled out of our cove to head in, the lake was completely muddied up. Whether that was from the wind or the Dix River I do not know. A couple of Bass tournaments were going on and every bass fisherman we talked to talked like they weren't doing any good. It felt good getting my first crappie of the year, the 1st one was about 13-14 inches and the 2nd one was around 8. It was a good trip to get out, we may spend part of our week off at Herrington in the last week of April. Close to home and a lot of good memories here. I have a picture but do not know how to post it, can anybody help out this computer illiterate person?

If your pics are on a digital camera ... load them into your computer, using whatever program came with the camera, or that your computer came with. Put them into a folder (you usually have an empty folder called "pictures", already in your computer programming).
If you have film camera photos, you'll need a scanner. Scan the pics & put them into the "folder".
Once you have the pics in your computer :
Open a free account at Photobucket.com ... choose the image size as : Message Board 640x480 ... upload the pictures from your computer into your Photobucket album ... left click on the IMG Code line (below the picture), and your picture is "copied" ... come to the site and right click in the Message box, making sure that you leave a couple of spaces between the text of your message and the picture's address ... choose "paste" from the dropdown box, that appears when you right click in the message box ... and your picture's image address will appear in the text. You can then click on "Preview Post" to see the results, and then "Submit Reply" if you're satisfied with the way the post looks.

You can also use the "Test" forum, to play around with how your pictures come across, and get used to the steps it takes to post a picture.

This isn't the only way to do it ... but, it's how I do it, so I'm more familiar with this method :p
And the nice thing about having a Photobucket Album, is ... if your computer crashes the hard drive, or you somehow lose the photo folder info ... the pictures are still safe, and you can still access them, once your computer is back in business. All Photobucket is, is a hosting site, where you can store your pics. It's free, because the ads pay the bills ... and if you want more options or a bigger album size, you can purchase an account. I don't know exactly how big (how many pics) a free account will hold, but I've got 5 pages of pictures on mine, and I haven't maxed out yet

Any problems or questions on any of the above info ... just ask, and I'll try and walk you thru it, step by step.

    Default Herrington Crappie

Crappiepappy, you are without a doubt the rock that holds this forum together, you are much appreciated by myself and all others who use this forum. Thanks for the info and prepare yourself for my ugly mug (just look at the beautiful crappie and it will be alright).

    Thumbs up

Nice fish. You are so right about catching them off the big gobs of debris. The lake is going crazy this year(as most of our lakes are), up, down, muddy, back up, warm up, cool down. I am pulling my hair out wanting some sort of steady condition to fish in. I really don't care as long as it would last for more than a few days! Good job and see on the water.
    Sponsored by my wallet!!
