    Default KY lake low

My brother lives near Big Bear and he said that the Corp of Eng. have dropped the lake. His neighbors boat dock is sitting in 1 ft of water.

I am going to arrive at KY lake on wednesday 10/1 and will be fishing from the ramp next to Big Bear. Any suggestions?

yeah the lake is down to almost winter pool already. you better have someone with you who knows the lake and keep a good topo map and gps handy or you will find trouble very quickly if you dont know much about ky. lake when it is at winter pool.

It's a foot to a foot and a half below normal level for this date based on the last four 29 Septembers. Any water too shallow to run through this year would have been too shallow to run through in any other year. I do most of my fishing while the lakes are at winter pool. The only thing to keep in mind is that the maps show depths at summer pool, so subtract accordingly.

    Hey chuck,
Are you literally fishing from the ramp or leaving from Big Bear ramp? If you have a boat, I would start out at the mouth on the drops first and work the old creek channel back. You can also try the roadbed that runs out directly from the ramp.
The only way to have a good fishing spot is to make it yourself!

Thanks for the heads up. I have a 19' Carolina Skiff with a new 997. Still learning about SI.
