A buddy & his wife, and I, were thinking about hitting it on Sunday morning. I got no call from them, prior ... so, I suspect they went to Keeneland :p

Cedar Creek Lake won't get over pool ... it just runs out the drain, and on down to Herrington Lake. When they want to lower the water level, they just open the drain gates a little lower.

Sounds like the water temps have dropped back a bit. That, with the clearer water, will slow them down a bit ... but, not for long. If you could see a chartreuse crappie jig at 3ft deep ... then the water is alot clearer than what I'm used to seeing.

I hear you, about the weekend traffic ... could also be a factor in the Crappie not being active, as I'm sure that most people there were beating the banks pretty hard.

It will only be my second time there - Last year was my first time there.
I hope the second very warm day in concession heats up the crappie. Actually if we catch any fish it will feel great since it's the second fishing trip of this year. First was London Dock a month ago and couldn't buy a crappie bite. Then all the rain/cold weather.

The wife and I went on Sunday but did not get there till about noon. When we pulled into the midlake launch area I did not think there was a spot left to park so I did a driveby in the parking lot to check and there was one spot left at the end. That was luck. We too were surprised by the clarity of the water, the guy at the bait shop said the main lake never gets muddy. We fished with minnows, popeyes, every kind of jig imaginable, we fished shallow, mid depth, deep, all over and got some light nibbling but never brought a fish in. We left at 4 so we did not get much fishing in although we fished hard with the time we were there. I found myself thinking that I must be at Taylorsville, with boats every 50 yards or so like they were.

We were lucky though, it was our first day this year out in our boat, everything still worked good on it, the day was beautiful and we got to wet our lines. We Americans have it made, don't we?

We are trying to decide what lakes to fish. We are taking off work for a week either next week or the week after next, depending on weather. We were originally planning on Cedar Creek but we could hit several lakes, I don't know. We want to stay close to home and take day trips, no KY. lake this spring.
