    Default Kentucky Lake 4-2-08

Took a hunting buddy fishing at Jonathon this morning. Put 34 in the boat. Fish were biting in the 10-13 foot range but still scattered. Water temp was showing 53.8 in the back. Hot color was a light green and chartruse with blue fleck tipped with a chartruse crappie nibble. I get the jigs from Bass Pro. The blue fleck seemed to be the key. We tried every other color with different color glitter and pepper but the blue flake prevailed. Fish are doing better in the morning. It seemed like someone flipped a switch at 1:00 PM and locked their jaws. The fish were busting with eggs and shad. Finally starting catching some blacks. Had a mixed bag of males and females. Hope this info helps those of you who are thinking of traveling down here. Even though the water is dropping, it doesn't seem to be dropping at a drastic rate and it hasn't seemed to bother the fish. It won't be long now before they're on the banks, as long as they don't suck the bottom out of the lake.

    cmatt,
Today was the only day I could fish this week. Hope you have a good trip. If I was you, I would invest most of my time in Big Sandy. I fished the CUSA tournament last weekend and talked to the guys who fished Big Sandy and they said that they were catching big numbers of fish. We have been having to fish pretty hard to get our fish in Jonathan.

Thanks Sixfin. Leaving tomorrow morning and will be at Kenlake SRP on Sat. Jonathan is a close shot from there, Big Sandy a little further, but will definitely try them both. Fishing out of '02 Tracker w/ 40hp Jetdrive. Fish on!!

    lamp,
The water has cleared up a lot. There is a mud streak in the back coming out of the creek but other than that, its good. Actually, I liked it better when it was muddy. The fish don't seem to spook as easy and they hold tighter to cover.
