    Default Kentucky Dam Village

I am coming to KDV this weekend the 29th and 30th. I have been going there a time or 2 the last 5 or 6 years. I have never been able to fish until this trip. I was wondering if you could help with some info on where to begin my search. I have 14' boat w/ 25 yammaha. Is there anywhere close to fish with this type of boat. Thanks in advance for all your help.

Sledd Creek, Little Bear and Big Bear/Malcom Creeks are all on the west side of the lake and the secondary channel runs that side pretty close to the bank in most places. They can all be good early. As high as the water is now, be extra careful for floating debris. Good luck.

Sledd Creek is just around the corner from the marina. It is the first big bay on the west side once you leave the marina. If you will go to the back, there is three creeks that empty into Sledd. One will be to your far left, one will be almost in a straight line, maybe a little to the left and the other will be to the far right corner. With the water up, you may be able to do some good in there. Also try just drifting down the middle. There is so much stuff in there, you can't miss. If you are there when the crappie are running the bank, try fishing the pea gravel bank about half way back on the left as you come in. Fish all the way to the little island that is on your left. I would think that Sledd is about as far as you would want to motor in a boat that small. Big Bear is about 10 miles from the marina and Little bear is about 7. If conditions are bad, you can fish the old paddle boat basin. There is a rip-rap bank across the mouth of it that crappie will gather to. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all of help. I think that I am going to try sledd creek. The best I can tell on the map I can motor that far but don't know about much farher than that. I think I will try spider rigging in there first and see how it goes. I am just glad to get to fish this trip. Where is the old paddle boat basin? Is that the somewhat protected area close to the marina? Again thanks for all the help I will take all I can get. If there is anyway I can help you all anytime just holler. I live in the middle of west tennesse and usually fish the big sandy.

    Thanks again for the help.

    Lip,
The paddle boat basin is the little bay just north of the marina. When you come out of the breakwall at the marina, if you will look straight ahead and a little to the right, you will see a black bridge over the gap in the breakwall. Just go under it and your in the paddle boat basin.

Watch the weather for South winds. The main lake can get very rough. There are probably no less than 40 or so brush piles and stake beds right in the marinia.

Thanks ricky I thought about trying in there if the winds were pretty bad. It looks like it stays protected most of the time.
