    Default I'm off

Well my much anticipated trip to Weiss has finally arrived. Leaving at 0500 hours in the morning to fish a couple of days with my dad. It's been a while since he's been out on the water with me. I'm anxious to catch some crappie and spend some time with the old man.

Right now the weather looks good I'm hoping the fishing will be too.

Hope to have a good fish story when I return.

    Exclamation Hey Brad ...

don't know if you'll see this before you go, but :

here's a tidbit straight off the JR's Marina website :

"Crappie fishing is good. We have been catching fish in Yellow Creek, Church House and Bay Springs areas. The best method is long line trolling using J.R.'s Jigs in 1/16th. Use Red/Blue/White or Pink/Blue/Chartreuse or Pink/Chartreuse/Blue"

(water temp is around 50deg, water conditions = stained ... so I'd think "bright color & contrasting color combinations" would be the ticket )

Well guys just got back to the house today and thought I'd give a quick report. First of all it's good to know that the weather man in that neck of the woods isn't any better at predicting the weather than the man here. Saturday it was supposed to be clearing and in the low 50's....I don't believe it even made 45 and the North wind had a bite to it. The cold front dropped the water temps into the upper 40's and the bite reflected it.

As usual heard a lot of "should have been here last week" comments. Most everyone last week must have limited by noon.

First time trying the longline trolling technique, but found it a fun way to go after them. With the amount of line you have out reeling them in is good fun.

Dad and I managed some pretty good fish but nothing like what have been posted here recently. We had 36 pretty nice fish yesterday and kept 21 this morning before returning home. Caught 103 total for two days of fishing.

It definately wasn't Weiss at it's best, but had fun fishing with my dad. Looked like the weather was getting bad again for tonight so we quit fishing today by noon, cleaned fish and drove home.

Really enjoyed the lake and look forward to trying it again sometime.
