Kentucky Lake report

I ventured to Kentucky Lake last Thursday, (Dec 6) you may recall it was the day following the cold front that passed. The fish really shut down. Only managed a few fish and lost two real hubcaps!

Unfortunately, had to cut the trip short. About midway through the day I realized that for some reason I was taking on quite a bit of water in the boat. (Not a good thing in December) I bilged the water out and then from studying saw that the water was entering the boat from behind my fuel tank. I managed to fit my hand under the tank to feel around and found that a plastic "T" section that connects the livewell hose to the livewell pump was cracked. Handling it only made it worse and soon there was a steady stream of water coming in the boat. Tried shutting off the livewell and bilging, but to no avail.

Got to the ramp and home only to discover that to reach the broken fitting I had to remove the gas tank, which was 3/4 full. Had an interesting day to say the least on Friday, emptying the tank and making the repair. My boat is a 91 model, guess after 16 years I can expect some things to give.

Got everything fixed and ready for the tank to go back in but I'm going to hold off till after Christmas hoping I get a new Hummingbird for Christmas. It will be a lot easier mounting the transducer while the tank is out.

Just thought I'd share some of my misfortune. At least I got to fillet a few a fish out of the deal.

Yes the weather has been a problem for me as well. I did manage a trip the day after you were there. Friday I got real wet, did manage to get 8 pretty good fish and lost I think 3 more. I guess the rain will mess things up for a while. No problem, I have a new grandson that was born Tuesday. Ryne Carter Johnson has made his way into this world, at 8 pounds 12 ounces and 221/4 inches long with a full head of hair I think he is a keeper. He lives in Paris Tn. so I will just have more time to make trips to oversee his first few weeks.

He will be a good excuse to plan on frequent trips to Paris! with boat in tow of course. ha!

congrats! anytime is a good time to go to paris, but to visit a new grandson would make it even better.
