    Default Thanksgiving on Kentucky Lake

I can't believe I actually convinced my wife to skip going to Gatlinburg this year. I told her lets save some money and lets go get on some of the Kentucky Lake crappie instead. I told her she would get the late afternoon at the WKY Outlet Mall and she went for it. Can't wait till turkey day and sucking down a turkey leg on Blood River. Should be a great trip.

If she goes to the outlet mall, you might not save any money! But at least you'll be on the lake.

Congradulations and your wife should be commended, statues of her should be erected overlooking crappie lakes all across the country.

I'd trade crappie slime for turkey any time.

I agree it will cost me just as much money but nothing beats the water or a think porkchop at Pattie's. She like the statue thought. She is a heck of a woman who enjoys going with me. Just need to get her one of those 2 pounders. She had one this past spring that went 1 lb 15 oz's. So close but no cigar. Hopefully there will be some fat bellies on some slabs at Thanksgiving.

I mentioned this to my wife and she said it sounded better than turkey to her too. Unfortunately we have a pretty big group that counts on her to do the holiday cooking.

She did mention she wanted to take a trip to Ky Lake this year and look around as a possible retirement spot. We still have a few years to go until we have to decide but I got her thinking about that region. I do love that lake.

My wife and I are in the same situation. We have a lot of years before retirement but thats why we like going to the Lakes so much. We want to retire down there one day. For now we just go down and look around at what we want in the future and we still get to catch a lot of crappie.

If you are on the water that weekend please know that duck season opens Thanksgiving morning. I'd advise not "investigating" what appears to be rafts of ducks close a bank, island or back of a cove. With these warm winters it's a never ending battle with guys fishing and wanting to go "check out the little duckies (decoys)."
