Still can't figure the Crappie out so I'm going after what I can catch for now. Managed 11 fish Monday evening, kept the three biggest. One 8lbs and two 7lb'ers

Rowdy, I was catching them in 15 ft of water at the back of Mason Island. It's funny seemed like the big ones didn't start biting till the last 1/2 hour before dark.

    badbrad,

Nice fish! You catch them on Barren River Lake? What were you using for bait?

Big Red, Yes they were caught on Barren River Lake. I caught them trolling a small spoon. It's called a "Pet" spoon, size 12 chrome with a white feather. The hybrid really love it. You can order them off Striper.Net.

    Bad Brad,

Crappie are not bad on Barren. The bigger crappies are not biting real well but still managing to get several smaller ones. Most are averaging around 9.5-10. Look for crappies to be suspended around brush that is in 11-15ft. deep. Best bite probably is early morning. All fish for me have been coming on minnows. They may be even a little more shallower up in the creeks. Good job on the hybrids. I have caught several big ones on hair jigs and topwater when they were in the jumps but never really ever got on them good trolling. I have hooked a few but not enough to really pattern them.

Thanks sledge for the info on the crappie. Probably will wait till it cools down a little before I try them again.
