Talking Belated Birthday Bass night fishing trip ...

to Herrington Lake ... Sat night Jul 7 (to celebrate my JUNE Birthday :p )

Took my buddy Carl & his wife Lisa, for a little nighttime Bass fishing. Arrived at sundown, fished until 4AM. Had to take a number to fish most of my more favored banks, around the Kennedy Bridge area. Lisa's first night fishing trip, first Bass fishing trip, and first time baitcaster user :D ... and she did fine, for a stone rookie. Unfortunately, she didn't catch anything ... but, Carl & I weren't exactly tearin'em up, either ... LOL!!
Total catch/land ... 5 fish -- three on crankbaits (me) and two on plastic craws (Carl). Two stuck and came unbuttoned (one each) and half a dozen pickups that were missed on hookset. Largest fish landed ... Carl's first fish of the night, about a 2.5lb'r.
Considering the number of other anglers thrashing the same banks as we were, it wasn't too bad a night.

Barren is the same way after dark now. With the lake being down it even makes it tougher to find a spot on the water to fish for bass. Sounds like you guys had a fun trip. If she fished first time in the dark with a baitcaster and didn't have any problems, she must be a natural.

I agree, The night bite has slowed. I have made three trips total. First trip 6 weeks ago 25 in the boat, about 1 month ago 30 in the boat. Last night 18 in the boat. I fish with a partner and we just about split the number of fish landed. We had to fish a lot longer last night and the fish were not as large in size. I fish Kentucky Lake and Barkley. All fish are caught on soft plastics.
