If your friends unit is the garmin 93 they are terrible,i made a sun shade for the one i had.I have the garmin 1222 now it does great in the sun.

No I think it is a 1022. A sun shade may help but there is mot one on his HB and its clear as crystal. There is no comparison.

I have a gen 1 helix 10 with 360 and the 1222 with livescope and the brightness seams pretty close when comparing the 2.On the 1222 i do turn the screen brightness down when i can on cloudy days,it uses alot more power when the btightness is 100%
