Cedar Creek Redear
I know this is not crappie related but I have heard a lot about Cedar Creek red-ear in May and I was wanting to take my daughter and put her on some nice bluegill. Any suggestions on parts of the lake time of year or bait would be greatly appreciated

I've only fished for them a couple of times, and have caught some decent ones (years ago). From shore I used nightcrawlers under a float. From a boat I used a black jighead with the dark brown head section of a nightcrawler threaded on the hook and bounced along the bottom. In both instances I was fishing around the ramp by the dam, either just to the right of the courtesy dock (shore fishing) or out in front of the rip rap below the parking lot (in boat). Sorry, but I don't remember "when" it was .... but, it could have been during the Full Moon period of May.
"Nice" Bluegill may be hard to come by, unless they're on beds ... but, put any kind of bait on a small hook and drop it around any of the standing trees or just outside of the grass/moss along the banks (if there is any) and you will catch Bluegill. I can't vouch for their size, though, as I have not fished Cedar Creek in several years.
If she's old enough to cast .... a 1/16oz marabou Road Runner would be a good idea. I've caught Crappie, Bluegill, and several decent sized Bass casting one in the past.
Luck2ya ... and I hope you put her on some fish !!
