KY Lake Just Got Back...Report

Fished Blood River Thurs. - Saturday and the bite was pretty tough. Thursday = 12 Friday = 14 Saturday = 40. Caught all of my fish casting slider jigs in 6' to 12' of water in stakebeds and brushpiles. Didn't really figure out the bite until Saturday.... I let the bait fall all the way to the bottom and then SLOWLY SLOWLY SLOWLY crawled the bait back to me. The ONLY time I got bit was right after the slider deflected off of a branch or stake.

The fish were on the bottom right in the middle of the cover. 90% of the crappie I caught were white females between 11.5" & 13.5" w/ 3 or 4 between 15" & 16". All but a couple still had eggs, but they are all ready to bust. Tough conditions when it is raining and you can see your breath, but we had fun anyway.

I know how you feel, I just got back from big sandy Sun. night and we caught our fish right on bottom in 33-6 ft. of water. Most fish were caught in 8-11ft using 1/4 oz. bare jighead tipped with a minnow. Really tough but we figured it out! Good job....glad it turned out for you.
