I had the pleasure to fish with Scott, who fished with me last May with his son, Daniel. Sadly Daniel couldn’t make the trip but his Mom, Lisa, did.
We checked out a couple of normally reliable fall spots and both were absolutely dead. Asian carp were everywhere.
We made the move to a spot I had fished a week ago. The lake level is about 3 feet higher than it was last week. I had no idea if the crappie were hanging around with higher water. It didn’t take long to find out not only were crappie still there but so were bass and catfish.
We pulled Pico INT cranks, 200 Bandits and 6A Bombers. The PICOs were better by far but the colors the fish wanted were all over the tackle box so I was constantly changing colors.
3 hours in that spot produced 32 keepers, several shorts, 4 cats and one decent LMB. We couldn’t find any big crappie but the clients were tickled with our catch.
I have no idea what the falling water is going to do with the fishing. Surface temperature was 85, much higher than this time last year.
