Fished the north end of KY from daylight until 09:00 and then rode around joy riding for another hour and a half. It was a gorgeous morning on the water with multiple ospreys and a pair of eagles keeping me company.
I stuck with my plan trolling PICOs and Flicker Shads. Caught all the fish within about two hours of each other then lost them once the sun was higher in the sky and things started warming up. An interesting observation is that I was consistently catching fish that were suspended under massive schools of Asian carp rolling on the surface. We can only suspect that the game fish were using them as a source of shade once the sun came up. Water temp where I started registered an even 91.0 at 06:00, but found pockets of “cooler” 88 degree water in a couple deep bays. There is a large slime algae bloom occurring in multiple bays on the LBL side with big globs of it floating around on the surface.
Finished the day with 9 legal fish and a couple of other passengers in the cooler. I look forward to seeing everyone this Saturday at the Fenton pavilion for our crankbait seminar.
