No disrespect intended and I too admire Kev for posting this but don't really agree with parts of your post. While bad days do happen sometimes it's doing those on this site trying to learn the Twin lakes a disservice to lead people into believing most people only post good days or that some people aren't consistently successful day in day out month after month. These fish eat every day all year long and can be caught on both lakes in any season.
Also have read this forum daily for years and seen guides post unsuccessful trips plenty of times.
Again I am not saying this to discourage anyone, in fact the opposite. I know from Kev's past posts he is trying to learn this stuff. I have been there and done that, the Twins are a big animal that can be tough to figure out but if you stay after it and continue to learn you will be successful.

I’m still standing by my theory on Rickie’s cloaking device. I’ve seen a picture of that multi-transducer death star looking thingy. :yikes
I thought everyone had 1 of these ...

Rickie
When do ya get time to fish? :Rofl
It has been a hot tough summer for sure. I mainly do families and a mixed bag is always good. I rarely post on here unless something drastically changes in presentation (spiderrig vs cranking) that kind of thing. I think some of the problem may be throwing all your eggs in one basket. My trips for 2 months now have been cranking up multi species and then casting blade baits for whitebass/yellowbass and everything else. I cover ALOT of water. I also take out many handicapped folks who don't necessarily like pics taken in wheelchairs and so I honor that wish. Here's a few from the last couple days but to see the face of a 12 y/o boy reel in a big buffalo or drum or cat is priceless. We have been averaging 6 to 10 crappies and a batch of whites/yellows with even a couple sauger and LMB's in it!!

Last year similar trips with the same setup and same locations were yielding 10-20 fish/trip
Last year and the year before the yellow bass were as thick as black flies in Canada, not this year, same with hybrid stripers, almost none.
Seem to be catching more big ditch pickles.
fewer catfish too, and the few eaters that I've kept, their bellies are full of zebra mussels.
I'm running PICO's, Bandits, Jenko's, and Arkies.
60 to 110 ft of line out with 6 rods until I find the right depth.
Hard to believe the returns on the helix because the finder returns are FULL of carp.
Maybe the fall will be better.
I have been catching some on the main river but it isn't easy for sure. I have switched to single pole vertical fishing using the KY drop rig. I use 2 lite wire #2 bronze minnow hooks about 16" apart and a heavy 1/2oz tungsten tear drop style weight at the bottom and heavy line. I have to put those minnows down in the brush and then lift it over limbs which is why I use the expensive tungsten weights for the feel. Yes, I get hung some which is why I use the heavy line and lite wire hooks. Just pull and bend the hooks to get it loose. Fish don't seem to mind the heavy line. Sometimes they hit the bottom hook and sometimes the upper hook. I just have to have it right in the brush to get them to bite it. That is my experience this summer. Hope it helps. Oh yea, I also use a 7' crank pool umbrella (from Lowes) to tolerate the heat. No way I would be out there after 9am without it.
I hear ya Northforker. Similar results here as well. I can’t scan for target fish cause the carp are covering my screeen.
