    Default Trifecta, 3 Good Days

Got a little better each day getting em dialed in on the cranks. 1st day a person would've thought we were fishing for gar and catfish and just happened to hook a crappie every now and then. The crappie had moved on me since the last time I had caught em, and had to track em down. Of course I forget the net, but my buddy Slabseeker did a great job grabbing the 9 lb blue and getting it in the boat. Pretty good fight on a 14' trolling rod. We could've probably got our limit, but it just got too dang hot to stay out. We didn't see any sense of making ourselves miserable.

Took my brother in law out the 2nd day and fished out of his boat. Got him set up for cranking now. May have created a monster, as he's already wanting to get more cranks! Fish had moved some again over night, but not as far. The gar weren't as bad, but schools of 1-2 lb channel cats had moved in. Kept our lines slimed up all day.

The 3rd day, took my brother in law back & a good fishing buddy. Both of em just getting started pulling cranks. Was glad to be able to put em on the fish real good. It was one of those special days when the fish bit good, sky stayed overcast til lunch, and everything clicked and we knocked out 60 keepers pretty quick.

Arkie 220's with 60 ft of line out, putting em 7 ft deep, going 1.5-1.8 mph. Best spots seem to be points in 9-13 fow. The biggest key to success- get on the water EARLY. After about 11:00, the bite slows down, the temperature starts getting HOT, and the jet fleas and pleasure boaters come out in force.

I'm probably done until the Memorial Day crowds thin out. Had to wait literally 45 minutes at the ramp yesterday before could take the boat out because of the mess of people that couldn't back their trailers and clogged everything up.

Hope y'all enjoy the pics, and good luck out there.

After spending many hours and days out on Barren swinging at shadows, that day sure felt good. So good that I could hardly wait to text Doug a picture and let him know his patience while teaching wasn’t in vain.
And now to find the spots that will duplicate this one.

    Great job Guys.

Russ, I've been so busy I may or not have responded to your text. You give me a whole lot more credit than I'll ever deserve. Time on the rods is what makes one's success.
