Hi Ken,
I just asked the same question a week ago on this sight and got some good input from "Old Guide". If you scroll down and look for the topic "nighjtstalking on KY lake" you may find your answer. Good luck fishing and never be found wanting.

ive fished jonathan creek for the past 2 years ist week of april, this year the full moon falls on the 1st ,ill be there 3 days before and three after ,thought i would try some night fishing ? can i use a floating light at night? is even worth trying ? ive heard that the light may attract minnows in the shallows, also that if the water temp is high enough, more crappie spawn in the full moon,? thanks crappie ken

I have tried light east of 68 bridge several times with no luck. I have always done better with lights near the main channel.
The best night was in the channel and I was catching everything from bass to crappie. The shad was so thick I just netted them up and used them for bait. I finally ran out of food and drinks and called it a night.
I think the mistake a lot of us make is thinking the state-appointed shrink is our friend.
