My son recently turned 18. As most of you know electronics has consumed the world, especially the younger generations. I am glad to say my son as well as his younger brother stay pretty close to me whenever the boat is hooked up to the truck or the dog box is loaded in the back. We as a family love the outdoors. It's one time when we get away from the cell phones and get to enjoy some father son time. Considering he is 18 and college bound our days to hunt and fish are growing fewer and fewer. With that said a few months back I squeezed out the money and purchase a wide jon boat with a 25hp motor. My intent was for my boys to be able to fish the bays and small water holes without me and our Stratos 201 Pro. So as it goes I have tried my best to teach them the ends and out of operating a boat, fishing techniques, sportsmanship, and overall safety.
Saturday my son ask me is he could take his pawpaw fishing. "Dad you know pawpaw never has any luck crappie fishing. Can I take the jon boat and show him how to catch some fish?" I had to work, so I scratch my head and began the checklist with him. Make sure you do this..... Make sure you don't do that.... and of course be SAFE!!! I gave him my blessing.
So he and pawpaw set out Sunday morning to go catch some crappie. I get the text around noon that they were in the truck headed home. That was the first text I got so I at least knew at that point that they were safe and sound. So of course I had to ask, "how did it go?" A little time went by and my phone rang. He said dad we smoked em!!! He went on to tell me he had never seen pawpaw that excited. The picture speaks for it self! Pawpaw had never caught that many fish is several trips combined.
Proud father I am! Taught him well enough he even taught pawpaw a thing or two and he did it safely without incident.
I don't post much but some things are worth mentioning. PROUD FATHER HERE!Pawpaw don't waste no meat!
