Default ky lake this weekend? 3-17?

We are thinking of comming down this weekend but cant come down until saturday,, so earliest I can get on the lake is about noon... I assum the lake is warming up, but still in the 47-48% range,, Im new down there so I do not have any deep water or even 10-15' spots to fish.. so do you think I can find any ""shallow " crappie, or should I wait a couple of weeks

I've been hearing some reports of some pretty shallow fish as well. If it is warm next week I think you could have some luck fairly shallow.

    Hey John,

This is the time of year I go to the rocky banks with a tube jig under a casting bobber. Go right to the bank and work it slowly or in jerks with a pause in between back to the boat. I have caught a lot of black males in the 2 to 6 feet range by doing this. I use Kodiak scent and Berkley crappie nibbles to help entice a slow bite.

When you say rocky banks are you talking about the chunk rock that they use for breakwalls and around bridges? Are you simply fishing the rocks or targeting brushpiles near the rocks?

Chunk rock usually works best. Cover really has never been completely necessary but it helps. Also having a channel close, even a foot or two deeper seems to increase the catch.

Not to change the subject, but OldGuide, did you get my e-mail about guiding the first week of April?
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!

Hey JT, I sent you an email just a bit ago. Let me know if any of the date(s) I listed would work.
