BnM vs. Jenko Trolling Rods

Haven't tried the Jenkos but have tried a variety of rods from BnM and am currently fishing 16' Southern crappie rods. To me the PST are too stiff for lighter weights. I liked the BGJP but also like heavy weight at times so I purchased a set of Southerns which I feel are in between the PST and BGJP. I personally have been very satisfied with the 16' southerns as I fish both heavy and lite weights on them. If you like light weight and are looking for sensitivity I would try some bgjp but don't expect to be swinging 2 pounders in the boat with them.

I'm with ya on the C & C rods. Fished one day with a buddy, and couldn't get used to the bounce and too much sensitivity in the tips. I missed several fish because of it.
I was open to trying different rods, and now I am a little gun shy lol. But, between this thread and Ronnie's comments tonight on the special guest forum, I think I have come up with a decision . [emoji33]

I have set of 14' PST and bought a set of Capp's and Coleman tips. Light tip for light bite and rest of rod backbone to swing them in. Switch back to PST tips for power trolling or pushing cranks.

Guys, this was a very sarcastic remark, best rod I have fished with for the way I fish. Just my opinion, for what thats worth.

I use bnm 16ft pst pole and 16ft bgjp. I love both kinds....i think pst are the best all around poles for the money. Bgjp I love to use when pushing jigs. I can see the lightest of bits...i use the pst mostly now with cranks.

After reading the other comments it seems I have gone against the grain. I use the Jenko Spider Trolls when I spider rig, they have a very sensitive tip but are strong enough to easily lift a 2lb fish into the boat. I have used these rods all year and they have been great. I also have the Jenko Slab city to use when I longline because I like a rod that is a little more flexible for that application and had great luck with that one as well.

Both sets of rods have performed great. I'm glad I made the switch.

I will second Ree's on this one, if you don't wat to spend the money don't try the Denalli. I fished with his 6 mo ago and it took a while of saving my lunch money but I finally got a set of 4. I love my southern crappie rods but this Denalli is head and shoulders above all the rods I have fished as far as weight, sensitivity and power. And I have fished every rod mentioned in this post except the Jenco. I recently fished with Swampseed and watched those PST with cc tips and was impressed as I watched him see that light bite then swing a fish in the boat without net.

Used the BGJP's for years, had to keep a box of tips on the boat because they broke constantly. Switched to the PST's, had the same issues you all are describing. Now I fish with the Jenko Spider Troll and couldn't be happier! Incredible back bone, sensitive enough tip to see every bite. I keep a net in the boat with me but never use it because you can boat swing 2+ lb fish with this rod no problem. Also have pulled jigs/cranks with them too no trouble. Great all around rod, you'll love it.

I have used them for 2 years and never broke a tip on the bgjp. Used the pro staff for 8 or 9 years and never broke a tip on them either. The handles are in really bad shape now but that is all...
