Went to Cumberland today. My first time with the water at summer pool. It was like a new lake to me. Had to find all new spots. Took about 3 hours of hunting fishing in 5 to 40 fow. Before we figured out a pattern and managed to get 26 keepers.

Nice to hear about Cumberland. Never crappie fished there, but plan to try it out in the near future hopefully. Everyone says it's a really tough lake to fish, so it intimidates me a little.

How deep did you fund them?

We caught a few casting slab-a-nator jigs in the swallower water (5 to 17) and vertical jigging them in 20 to 30 fow. Anywhere from 10 to 20 foot down.....

There have been a few shallow 3' in 7-10 fow
Did good under lights at 12-15'

I was thinking of coming down and spending a day there. But I was going to put in way up there where the Rockcastle River meets the Cumberland River. I had it all planned out and meant to make it down there this spring but didn't.

Anyone know if there's deeper water up there and if the crappie would still be there in the summer? I only have a 9.9 so I can't go far on that big lake.

Never fished that far up ... but, according to looking at the area on Google Maps, there should be plenty of trees to fish around on either side of either river. Even the launch ramp on 3497 puts you inside the tree line on Rockcastle River.

I'd say you're just as likely to find Crappie there, as you would in any of the major creeks along the main part of the lake.

Thanks. Yep. I had scouted out that ramp and know where to go but I had planned to go in the spring. I know Cumberland is deep so if that was shallower water, I wasn't sure if the crappie would mostly be out in the main lake by summer time. I may give it a try.
