Im not a fan of a big pile of rotten fish along the boat ramp, carp or any species. If you plan to hunt fish with bow and arrow, please make arrangements before you go of what you will do with your harvest. If big pile at boat ramp is your answer, please take up another hobby like 3d target shooting. Thanks
Simple answer - YES! Stab then through to make sure they puncture the swim bladder and leave them where they caught them. The turtles and catfish will appreciate the extra protein. I know one bow fisher who leaves them on the ramp just to annoy everyone else who uses the ramp. btw: I know him but he is not a friend.
Just be civil in your discussions ... don't take it personal & agree to disagree. Remember ... personal attacks, stated or implied, are against site rules !!
That being said ... I do remember a member complaining about getting cranks hung in commercial nets. It may have been Wiskers, but I'm not sure. It was some time ago, and I'm not sure that thread is recoverable by search. My memory is sketchy, but I "think" those nets were not properly set/marked.
In any case ... some good points were made on both sides of the discussion. REMEMBER .... when you point a finger at someone/something, there are three other fingers pointing at you !!

Mike,
I too totally disagree with leaving dead fish at the ramp.
My point was that like it or not...commercial fishermen and bow fishermen are the ONLY people doing anything at all to slow the asian carp invasion. Will it be enough? Probably not. But the same folks that gripe about these two groups are the same ones that complain about the carp ruining the fishery.
For the record....Im not a commercial fisherman or a bow fisherman.
Thanks,
Pirogue
Pirogue,
I'm the one who originally started the other thread because I seriously thought that fish I posted a picture of had been shot by a bow fishermen. The cove I caught this fish in, there's a fella that shoots at 50lb Flathead and everything else...he told me this himself. I kind of assumed this guy had taken a shot at this fish because it was caught behind his house.
For the record I'm not anti bow fishermen at all.
Ooooh, you haven't gotten under my skin. And this is the first time that you have actually stated something correct, it is pretty simple......
Never choose an argument with an unarmed individual. In another way of saying it, and using your own words against you, in your original post you stated and I quote, "Just seems that when things don't go our way we are awful quick to blame another type of sportsman."
So, in post #3, you stated in a return post to MRDUX and quote, "I bet there's a TON of more gill hooked sport fish that go belly up after being released than what few the bowfisherman poke."
So, what is your intent in calling out against blaming other sportsman, but you completely did it yourself in your own thread that you started all by yourself?? I believe where I was raised right here in Western KY, that is stated as " ain't you the pot callin' the kettle black."
Then, in a double post of #8 & 9, you got your tity whities in a bind because you got called out, so you decided to storm off and pout...... But then, less than an hour later, you just had to come back and start up again with trying to make a joke about a misspelled lake name. Boy oh boy, you got me there!!!!!! LMBO!!!!!!!
Yep, I asked for it to be closed because I foreseen the future, I looked into my crystal ball ( everybody knows I am a gypsy ), and predicted that you would come back. In post #18, you kept the same ramble about the commercial fishermen and the bow fishermen are the ONLY people doing anything at all to slow the asian carp invasion. You sir are again incorrect, and need to get your information prior to making such outlandish statements. Additional outlandish statements referring to the phenomenal gills, bream and redear fishing the last few years is little hard to swallow as well. I have several friends that are guides, and serious gill/redear fisherman, that last year and this year have been some of the worst years for these fish. Now, I am not going to get into the specifics on this because this would arm you with free information for you to use haphazardly somewhere else.
In conclusion, I have stated more than once that if you have something that is worthy, by all means post it. But don't try to crawl away or make an invalid attempt to make fun of someone because you got caught without all the facts, or were called on the carpet. Brother, I got some real thick skin, and most of these guys know I am pretty straight forward, and for the most part a pretty good guy as I call many my friends. But you sir, one minute your calm, and the next your trying to prove something that you have know idea about. So, where is your evidence? Facts? And you were right again in your opening line in the original post, that makes 2 correct statements now, that sometimes get a lil off kilter on some topics.
I hope that in the future we can share more civil but more educational conversations that actually pertain to what all of our passion is, and that is catching some dandy slobber knockers in the very near future.:fish
Ok Chief !
