    Default Taylorsville 5/13 report

Got to the ramp around 7 on Saturday water was up a little bit and had some color to it but was not muddy there was was a lot of trash floating around water temp was 67. There is still a lot of small fish on the bank but I decided that I would do a little spider rigging to see if we could pick up a few bigger fish in deeper water. We only fished till 1 and ended up with 12 all over 10" with the biggest a 13"black. Most of the fish was in 24' feet of water 8-10 deep on the first drop out in front of the spawning grounds.

Sounds like what we experienced at Green River Lake during the Spring Fling, two weeks ago.

Did any still have eggs, and if so what color/condition were they ??

My buddy & I may give'em a try on Tues, seeing as how we're not going to be able to make the trip to Tenn, like we'd planned.

    Thanks for the report !!

    Pappy,
A few of them had a small amount of eggs in them. They did not have a belly full. Most of them was not bright yellow they was a yellow brownish color. I did pick up a few small whites that looked like they was about bust.

Kinda what I thought, and was hoping for .... that some good percentage of them got off a partial spawn, and the smaller ones are still trying to take advantage of the water temps heating back up.

Maybe if they did spawn in 5fow, those cold nights/rains didn't hurt the fry. I have seen them spawn in 8fow, when the water was real clear ... but, with the dirty water conditions they've had, 3-5fow seems to have been the norm.

Hopefully, the big ones left from last year got off an early spawn or partial spawn, and are already back out in their early Summer pattern. They got seriously "crushed" last Spring .... with people catching limits for days & weeks on end.

I think that most of the bigger ones spawned 2 or 3 weeks ago. Before we had that cold spell and all of that rain. Hopefully the water did not get cold enough to hurt the fry. It was in the low 70's a few weeks ago. Most of the bites that I had was pretty soft. I don't know if it was because they was pulling water or the blue bird sky's and post spawn funk. I about had to sit right on top of them for a few minutes before they would take a minnow.

I knew that's what I should have done today !! But, my partner and I beat the banks, instead. Caught a little of everything, but threw everything back. Caught lots of males & a few small females (still w/eggs) ... but nothing of any size. Still ... it beat sitting at home !!
