I have had my trolling motor in shallow stake beds, boat hull bouncing off of stakes, whitecaps coming into stakebeds, and never do I shut off my electronics.

Good question & excellent responses. I vertical jig exclusively and really have not seen the impact of the sonar or boat bouncing over the brush or the stumps. Bite might slow down a little, then next thing u know, you catch 2-3 in a row...for the crappie anyway. Can't be that aggressive with Bluegill or Redear though.
