Unhappy Tough days on Bear Creek Ky Lake

We just got home from 4 tough days in Bear Creek area of Ky lake. The water level is lower than I had ever fished there. We tried working from 4 feet deep in the bays to 14 feet deep brush piles in the main creek channel of Bear Creek. We only caught 11 crappies in 4 days. Caught a few perch and some bluegills.

What little success we had was in 7 feet of water next to some brush on main channel points using Crappie sliders (green flake) with a Crappie nibble.

Tried a couple spots on the main lake south of Bear Creek and ran across to Pisgah bay and Smith bay with no better luck.

Hope you all have better luck than we had.

ol yank, I have not fished since Sunday afternoon, We had 17 keepers out of about 40. I spoke with my fishing buddy a few minutes ago and they caught over a limit yesterday in three hours at Jonathan Creek. If you plan on fishing down here often I think it might pay you to hire a guide for just one trip. You can learn a lot from a guy that fishes dailey. We have two very large bodies of water and it can be tough to learn in just a day or so. THE BANDIT

    Default Not sour grapes

I Didn't mean to sound like I was disgusted, I just wondered if anyone else had trouble catching fish after Sunday. I have fished the lake several times (twice with a guide) so I had a good list of places to try where we had success in the past. I always launch at Moores and stay within a few miles of there. Bear Creek has always been good to me in the past. The weather was near perfect for this time of year. I just thought the low and falling water level had put the fish in a negative mood and wanted to compare notes with anyone else that fished on Mon day and Tuesday. Thanks for the response. I am always up for learning new stuff.

    Default Ky lake trip

Fished Monday through Wednesday at Blood River and had 91 keepers. I thought the fishing was rather tough also.Had seen reports of black crappie on the banks but could only manage one here and there casting the banks, talked with a guide and he said they did good on the banks Friday through Sunday but slowed drasticly Monday and he thought it was due to the falling water. Most of the fish we caught came from the top of drops 8 to 12 ft deep on minnows and tubes.Water color was great in Blood with just enough color to it, found 59 degree water wednesday afternoon. If the water stabalizes and the water temp don't take a big drop the black crappie will be close to the bank.
