    Default Taylorsville report 1/9

Water was 43 at ramp and muddy with a little bit of trash. Lake was probably at summer pool and rising. Hit the first spot and picked up 7 keepers. I was thinking it was going to be a great day. Hit two more spots and had 15 by 10:00 then it was like somebody turned a switch and they shut down. We fished for 4 more hours and only pick up 4 more keepers. Starting to see a few shad that are dying off.
Ran up lake past Chowning boat ramp and the water was 46 and really muddy with a lot of trash in the water. It was loaded with bait around the no skiing markers.
It still was a good day to be on the water in January no wind to speak of and picked up a few fish and did not have to knock any ice off the rods.

I was wondering if the baitfish were starting to die off. Nice job picking up on that key bit of info. This warm weather makes it feel like spring but winter is far from over.
The secret to fishing? Fish where the fish are.
