    Default Info Murray Kentucky area.

I drive a tour bus as part of my retirement gig. I have ended up in Murray, Kentucky on a four day lay over.
What is there to do around the area?

Fishing is out of the question, the trip happened on way too short of notice to set up anything and it is way too hot for me. I had a mild case of heat exhaustion 5 years ago and do not tolerate high heat as well as I once did.

I thought about renting a car and going over to grizzly jigs to look around and kill time, but wonder if the trip would be worth the time and expense. I have traveled further to just look at stuff before, I already had a fair idea that it would entertain me before I left.

I just figured I would ask the locals and see what they would recommend to a visitor from NC, to keep me entertained for a few days.

I have also been to Metropolis and seen the statue and museum before, just for fyi.

If all else fails I guess I could read a book.
    Thanks
    Dennis

Check out the Lbl area. They have the nature center, elk/bison range automobile tour, heritage home place and plantaterium. Union city tenn, about hour 15 min away, has the Dixie gun works, the discovery park, and reelfoot lake is just another 30 or so minutes down the road.

You need to go and eat at Patty,s 1800 settlement. It's just a short drive from you. In murray you cannot go wrong with eating at the stockade. It's has a huge Hereford bull on a trailer out front. Cadiz, the other side of Lbl, has a lot of antique stores if you enjoy pilfering.

In in this heat if you do the auto elk tour go late in evening you will see more. Hope this helps.

Reelfoot lake and grizzly jig sound like good ideas with this heat. A/C is also a fantastic option.

Kens tackle and bait company is a great local bait and tackle shop. They have a lot of crappie baits.

I'd probably go to Nashville. It's too blame hot to do anything outdoors right now except for mad dogs and Englishmen.
