Dad and I snuck off last night to hit a few of my spots at Tville. Engine problems and parts supplier incompetence kept us from fishing the peak of the spawn. A real bummer from pics I've seen posted, but at least we can catch the tail end of it.
The weather was rough when we got there but after the storm front came thru it calmed down nicely and we had a nice evening of fishing. Only had time to hit four spots. Water temp was 68 deg and at summer pool. Caught a lot of small males guarding the nests. Bigger females were in slightly deeper water around standing timber. Several still had eggs. We ended up with 21 keepers. I came out with my personal best female from Tville. She was 13" and still full of eggs.
For some reason we lost several good keepers again. I'm gonna have to figure this out. We would have had 30 pretty easy if not for that. I'm gonna try some different things tomorrow.
The clouds broke right before sunset and gave us a wonderful show. A full rainbow straddled the lake as a Loon sounded off in the distance. Man what a nice evening on my favorite lake!
