    Angry Lake Barkley 58,000 Acres!!

It is near April and prime time for folks to get out and catch Crappies and I understand everyone loves to fish the fast and furious month of April. I know we talk about this every year, but some still don't get it, there is 59,000 acres to fish. Why do some of you feel the need to fish right on top of me? I was out yesterday on Barkley, in my little john boat, some days it is easier just to take it out when the water is low for a couple hours verses the big boat. Every time I moved I had a guy in a red Triton tail me and right on top of me. It is disrespectful. My patience is running thin on this topic, someone or is going to hear something on the lake and they are not going to like it!!! Anyhow, fishing is picking up, water a little lower than I like it but still workable, good luck!!!

Get the guy's picture and post it up. Unless you are willing to confront that person on the lake, coming here to tell about it won't change things. Some people are born $%#&$%, some take time to develop.

Telling somebody you don't appreciate them crowding you doesn't have to be confrontational. If it gets to that, pulling out one's cell phone and starting to take pictures should calm it down. If it becomes threatening, the LEO love to get into the middle of those situations.

Yeah it's that time of the year. Mrdux you're about some taking time to develop, I won't get in to all of it, but someone I have talked to a lot and somewhat thought were friends pulled some stuff the other because I had found a few fish.

I hear you loud and clear, the lake is my PTSD Stress relief, most of the time!!! Been over to their range many times to qualify with assigned weapon and you right it looks a lot better from the outside than the inside!!!

my wife and I were fishing ky lake a few years ago. The flw tournament was going on. My wife caught a couple of undersized smallmouth in a small bay. My wife does not fish that much and when she caught the 2 fish she laughed and proclaimed how much fun it was. One of the tournament boats was close enough to observe the proceedings. Without hesitation they trolled at high speed not just close but put the bow of their boat against our boat. Without saying anything they began to cast furiously in the exact spot my wife had caught her fish. Neither them or us said a word. I was stunned. They fished there for a few minutes and then trolled on. As I said, their boat was against my boat the entire time. You guys tell me. Is this the norm ?

Another experience at ky lake went like this, my son and I were fishing in April last year in one of the larger bays. We were crappie fishing. I was 3/4 back in the bay on the north side of the bay. We were not doing much good on that side. I looked across the bay and noticed a bass fisherman that I assumed by the advertising on his boat was participating in a tournament. They were going down the south bank opposite from me moving toward the main lake. I cut across the bay and was going to fish behind them going opposite from their direction of fishing. I was going to water they had already fished and go the opposite direction they were headed. When we got to the bank and started fishing the bass fisherman noticed me and turned around. They trolled at high speed between me and the bank throwing the notorious Alabama rig the entire time. When they reached the back of the bay they again turned and trolled back to us. this time they went to the outside of my boat by about 5 feet. Each time they went by my boat they would toss their bait rig as close to my boat as possible without snagging our lines. Again, no one said a word. And again I ask, is this accepted practice ?

I have been there during several tournaments and can say I have not experienced that. But the majority of tournament fisherman know that on Kentucky Lake the majority of fish are caught along the channels and offshore features and I give them a wide berth. I try to get out of the way for any tournament fisherman on any lake. Just because I figure it's way more important to them to catch a fish than it is to me,and I can always find some out of the way place. If I'm gonna catch fish that day has very little to do with them. Maybe my day is coming with a bad experience but like I said I generally let them "play through" as if it were golf and I was not playing for money and played slower. I never launch or takeout when they do....almost always use a different launch. I did launch from Kentucky Dam Marina one time during an FLW pre fish and got pretty close to a few of them just to do it one time.
