Last night my friend and I caught an amazing bunch of fish on Lake Cumberland. Fishing in the Burnside area, about an hour and a half before sundown, we pulled up to an old tree that is just now starting to appear again with the falling water. Before the sun went down we already have caught 30 fish. As darkness approached, we anchored and put out two green l.e.d lights. By the time we finished just after 1:00am, we had boated just over 200 fish. Many of the fish were just about 9 inches, but were fat and sassy as black crappie on Lake Cumberland go. We ended up with about 30 good keepers. A few of the fish were caught on jigs, but by far the majority were caught on minnows and slip corks set at 20 ft deep. Will the full moon in all its beauty and an evening devoid of jet skis and big cruisers, we had a really memorable evening. Sure, many of the fish were small and released to be caught another day. But that the proves that good days are ahead on the big Big Lake.
