    Default Green River Lake Thermocline

I fished two weeks ago and seen what I though was the thermocline at 20 ft.. This week I fished two days and didn't see anything at any depth. New and trying to learn how to recognize thermocline on my HB 1198.

Did you catch any fish? If so, how were they relating to the thermocline?

I fished Monday and had 15 good ones. I couldn't see a thermocline on the flats I was fishing. All of the fish I was catching and seeing though were in about 18 ft of water. Somebody else said they were catching theirs in deeper water on a different flat but they were fishing 16 feet deep.

Yes the fish were biting. Didn't see a thermocline where I was at but the fish were suspended over open water. Seemed the thermocline was more noticable in the creeks in less than 20 fow.

Your DI & 2d sonar screens should show a line of hazy coloration that runs at the same depth level throughout an area, even if the bottom depth changes.

You may well have seen a thermocline at 20ft a few weeks ago, prior to the rains causing the lake to rise ... and not seen one a couple of weeks later, as the lake was being drawn down.

I've seen the thermocline on my Lowrance Elite 5DSI ... but never thought to take a screen shot when it was showing

Start raising the sensitivity one click at a time until the screen starts to clutter ...

If the clutter materializes as a hazy band starting at a certain depth ... That's the thermocline (as Pap mentions) ...

If the clutter materializes as covering the entire screen ... That's just clutter ...

I reviewed my recordings and made adjustments with the sensitivity and didn't see any thermocline.
I did catch several fish only 5 keepers out of maybe 30. I catch and release unless the person fishing with me wants a mess 15 max.

I fished Friday at GR Lake, spider-rigging. Fished many places at depths from 8 to 26 ft in as much as 40 ft of water. Most of the fish I marked was suspended out over main channels depths. I caught several fish but only had 9 keepers. I think the guys pulling crankbaits fared some better. They were able to cover much more water. Around 3 o'clock I quit because big boat traffic kicked up. I had caught my two biggest fish, one just over 13 inches, just before quitting, on a flat just off the channel where the water was 27 ft deep. I was fishing at 19 ft. Wish I had found it earlier. Just couldn't fish it in the boat traffic

I want to learn how to catch fish all year long so when family and friends go with me, they will have a great time. I have learn from all of the post made by the great fisherman and I very very much appreciate the post.
Now I must try to use the information Tue.& Wed. on the GR Lake.
    Thanks!!!!
