    Default Versatile Rod Holders?

I posted this on the Illinois forum, but wanted to get some input from you guys that do a lot of trolling.

I am getting ready to rig my new tin deep V boat for trolling. I wanted to get some ideas from those who troll a lot

I am wanting to get set up with a very versatile rod holder system. A lot of the time I will long line troll, but also want to be able to push, and maybe even spider rig...I haven't done any spider rigging, but may want to give it a go.
Most of the time I would be using 4-6 rods, but may make occasional trips to lakes that allow more rods / person.

I would like to buy once, and have the most versatile system possible.

Any suggestions are welcome.....Thanks for any input.

I use HiTeks exclusively. No reason to change. I have several sets of bases throughout my boat so I can use the same bars and holders in many different areas and for many different applications.

This really comes down to what you like and how functional it is. I use Spyder Loks and if you are gonna pull and push mostly you won't find a stouter system for the money. Ree managed to get hung a couple of times this morning pulling cranks and the rack never moved, only thing I have found to move the rack is a 300 pound fisherman hanging off the end of it and it bent, didnt break off then!!!!!!

Those Cumberland have a square horizontal shaft that look very sturdy, but I don't see adjustment for how close the pole is to the water ..... Am I just missing something from the picture?
    Thanks.

Never mind .... I figured it out after looking closer ..... looks like they also have a round shaft available.

I have a secondary question ..... Does your favorite rod holder work equally well with spinning and bait casting reels?

Take a look at driftmaster as well. My brother and I have been using them for 25 years without a problem. They will handle any kind of abuse you can dish out and come in a variety of styles for anything you want.

Have had four different kinds through the years....but did switch to Spyder-Loks last year.....best there is in my opinion.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
