Default Taking 3 yrd old to Taylorsville Saturday

I'm taking my grandson fishing for the first time sat. I've fished the lake once in the last 15 yrs and would love for him to catch a couple. Last there in April 2014 I found some crappie in Jack's Creek. The little guy would be thrilled with crappie, bluegill anything. You've got to start them young but it would help keep their interest if they could catch a few. Granpa could use any help or advice. thanks folks!

Wish I could help locate you some fish for the little guy but I've never seen that lake.

My advice would be to have an alternative means for keeping him occupied if the fish don't cooperate. Little guys are pumped up at first but lose interest quickly if the action is slow.

Good luck. Start 'em young and keep them happy.

Rickie ... let me know where you're launching and I'll PM ya some locations to try for Crappie. As for Bluegills ... they're pretty much everywhere, and a wax worm, cricket, or piece of nightcrawler on a small hook or jig & fished under a small cork should keep him (& you) occupied. They might even be nesting this weekend, so watch for a section of bank with lots of bubbles or the smell of watermelon and you should locate that nesting area.

And you do know that there's a 80% chance of thunderstorms for that area, on Sat !!
