Fished Barkley this afternoon
Thought some of you might like a little update on Barkley. Fished it this afternoon and the water is still fairly muddy, not as bad as at the first of the week but it's still going to be awhile before it clears.
Water temp at surface was 51.
Used jigs and caught a lot of small fish but only 3 that would keep. Lost a good one at the boat as well. Released what I caught. The bigger fish hit real easy. The smaller ones were more aggressive.
Spoke with another fisherman who was taking out and he had caught over ten by spider rigging with minnows in 10-12 ft. of water. Said they thumping it when they hit.
It seemed to get cooler as the day went by and that may or may not be the reason they were shy about taking a jig. Dark colors worked best which is what we've seen with a few other people lately.
Warmer temps should help but it will still take several days to see much difference. Hope this helps some of you get off to a good start if you decide to go.
Unless we get a big weather change, the spawn may come in a little later than usual even with a full moon at the beginning of April
