    Default New trolling motor

Picked up a new Motorguide Xi-5 with GPS and sonar, 80lb thrust. I will be replacing my Minnkota powerdrive. The powerdrive has worked well but the slow turn on it was a major downfall to me.

Anyone have any experience with the Xi-5?

Had mine for a little over a month now, absolutely love it. The anchor feature seems to work great, when there is some wind(5-10mph) it works even better, but if it almost too windy to fish, it will move around a bit. Used the foot pedal last week for the first time, it can take some getting used to but the remote has been my go to. Just wish the remote had an lcd display. Also the head of the unit needs some support for when in the stowed position, guess im gonna order a ram mount.

Doing some searching on it, I found this post on a travel support. Cheap and looks like it would work good. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/main-...ml#post2614215

I was going to buy the Motorguide quick disconnect. But after seeing this video of a guy losing his TM to the lake, I think I will hard mount it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fis...Fishing Forums
