Default First time to Taylorsville Lake

Heading for Taylorsville Lake 7/19. First time, the last was about 35years ago, bird hunting on the farms that are under water. Taking the wife, first time on boat. Taking crappie and bluegill gear only.Planning on leaning the deph finders and foot operated trolling motor. Hoping for a great day.

    Go early ...
Fish every large downed tree you see, as long as there's shade over the water above it ...
Stay out in deep water (20+ft) and cast to the tree, working deeper on each cast until you find the depth they're holding ...
No wind = stay back farther from the cover & fish deeper
Little wind = potential for fish to be slightly shallower
Heavy wind = likelihood you'd do better spider rigging
Cloudy skies = fish likely to be out away from cover more
Sunny skies = fish likely to be deeper, down in the cover, or out roaming the main lake following Shad schools

Can't say much about the B'gills .... other than to look for the bigger ones to be deep & probably alone

    Please do !!

But, don't be specific about "where" you were on the lake ... any other info you care to share would be fine (like depth, time of day, baits used, methods used, etc). No sense in making it easy for the meathog internet trolls to find the productive spots

overcast all day, light misty rain, put in at settlers. backed that boat like a pro and headed out towards the dam.fished all the stick-ups in the coves. I fished with pop-eyes/mealworm,tubes and jigs.then went to crankbaits and spinner baits, only had one strike for the day. the wife crawlers, hook, and bobber.she caught couple small gills and a 15" catfish. I broke my trolling motor off bracket and went home about 6 pm. still had a great day.
stopped at crickett's for gas and ice. there was a great looking ranger jon boat with 20 hp setup for crappie for sale.

question is, did you leave it still for sale or did you take it home??
