I have been doing some research lately on the Kentucky Hydrografx software. I was wanting some input of some of you that have it. I have been looking on there website and saw where I think the last scan was done sometime in 2005. Have they done anymore of the lake especially the south end around New Johnsonville and Harmons creek? The Big Sandy edition looked pretty impressive along with the north end of the lake. Was just wanting to know what you guys know and what you think about it.
Pallet type stakebeds show up really well on the HydroGrafx....
Stakebeds driven into the lake bottom and brushpiles...not so evident....
*I marked every piece of structure I could find in the program...
*Then I edited the waypoint names to something relevant to HydroGrafX...
*Now..anytime I'm close to one of those waypoints on the water...I go to the waypoint and physically verify if it is, indeed, something of value to keep as a waypoint....

While the scans are old and outdated a lot of the stuff you'll find on them is typically in areas that attract fish. I have a lot of the old stuff marked and usually find fresher stuff near it.

It's great technology that used correctly helps you to learn to read graphs and also with understanding the layout of the bays you are trying to learn.
It's also great technology for preparing for tournaments or quick fishing trips on areas that you have never fished before.
It's also great technology for becoming a leech........
{You can throw the knives and axes at me now. I've stated my feelings and I know advancements in technology are great for all of us and I also understand that once it breaks the surface of the water it becomes community property }
And yes I do own the program for the bays/ areas of the lakes that I fish and use them all the time for plotting new areas to sink beds in the lakes.
I personally think that the average ledge fisherman(long liner, spider rigger, or crank bait puller) can get better information from lake chips than the hydrographxs program but this is only my opinion also....
I've seen the earlier models of Hydrografix on Blood River and Eddy Creek. I found them very hard to read and interpret what I was seeing. Once I got my SI and DI set up properly, I don't think I would be inclined to buy it over a SI/DI unit. No doubt they were state of the art when Pat 1st put them together.

I agree with Doug. I have some of the originals and while they were state of the art for the day, they are dark and hard to read. He may have updated those areas since with better equipment, I don't know.
I think so.

Yes. There's a lot of info on those scans. It is very helpful if you don't have a side or downscan unit.
